Printing Your Digital Camera Picture

These days everyone is a photographer. With digital cameras so accessible and affordable nearly everyone has one. They come in all shapes and sizes and take varying quality of photos. With software you can edit your own photos to give them that personal touch and make them look exactly the way you remembered the scene or to give it a more interesting look.

With all of our pictures being taken digitally these days, there are far fewer actual photographs floating around anymore. People generally shoot the images and transfer them to a hard drive to store them. Actually physically holding pictures is mostly a thing of the past.

But many people still do love to have a physical photo to hold. Whether it is to put into an album of a special occasion or to include in a wedding invitation or to give away, it is nice to have the option to print your photos.

If you want to get a digital camera picture you can go to a photo lab and have them printed or you can print them yourself at home. To make a digital print picture you need more than just a regular printer. Oh sure, you can use your color printer, but you will use a lot of ink and the picture will be of very poor quality as most regular printers have a very low number of dots per inch (dpi) when compared with photo printers.

So if you plan to print many pictures it is probably a good idea economically to purchase your own photo printer. As with most things, it can be cheaper to print on your own than to have it done for you. However, keep in mind that the cost of printing your own photos doesn’t end with the purchase of a printer.

As a matter of fact it would be more accurate to say that the cost just barely begins when you purchase your printer. Now you have the means of printing, but you need to purchase the paper on which to print. Photo paper is not cheap, either. Make sure you know what type of paper a printer uses before you buy it. You probably want to be able to use a variety of papers for different needs.

Apart from the machine and the paper, you will also have to keep the ink topped off. Ink can be very expensive so choose your machine carefully. For the best quality picture you will want a six ink printer, but if you also print many documents or are interested in the price, a four ink printer might be a better option for you.

You already have your camera and your skills in taking and editing digital camera pictures, now you just need your printer. There are many to choose from so educate yourself and find out which one will best meet your needs before you buy!
